What's included in the costs?

How it works

Tackle this series of spectacular challenges to raise desperately needed money that will be used to provide life-changing equipment for children and young people with disabilities all over the UK.

Fitness
What's not included in the costs?
  • Travel Insurance - approximately £40. You cannot travel without sufficient travel insurance. The tour operator’s recommendations will be sent nearer departure.
  • Airport Taxes: - this can only be confirmed once the airline tickets have been issued.
  • Personal equipment - walking boots, day sack etc. A detailed kit list will be sent to you before departure.
  • Tips for local guides and staff
  • Personal spending money

The itinerary is designed to be physically challenging but achievable. You will need to have a good level of fitness and we would recommend you follow a varied training programme, as the fitter you are the more you will enjoy this experience. Most days there will be 4-8 hours activity per day including some steep hilly terrain.

Weather

May to July are South Africa’s winter months. The average daily temperature in May is approximately 22° C, providing sunny warmish days and cold nights, Drakensberg region normally experiences snow high up in the mountains at this time of year.

Extension

A flight extension, organised by the tour operator is available and will be allocated on a first come first served basis, once you have met your fundraising target.
