Grosvenor Garden Centre

Children Today are proud to announce that they have been chosen as Grosvenor Garden Centre’s nominated charity for 2009.

Located on the outskirts of Chester, Grosvenor Garden Centre is set within 14 acres on the Grosvenor Estate.  The garden centre employs more than 100 highly trained members of staff. A member of the Garden Centre Association, Grosvenor Garden Centre is the only garden centre in the UK to achieve the Garden Centre of Excellence Award for the eighth consecutive year.

Not only are you able to get all your garden supplies from Grosvenor but they also offer extensive ranges for the home, not to mention clothing for all the family, gifts, kitchenware, toys and books, an ever expanding food department and a recently refurbished café specialising in fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

Grosvenor prides itself on working closely with the local community and charities. Iain Wylie, Managing Director of Grosvenor said “We are delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile, local charity as Children Today, and we hope to raise a significant amount of funds to help them continue with their important work.”

“With so many young people to help each year, we are extremely grateful to Grosvenor Garden Centre for their assistance in raising much needed funds, and awareness, of Children Today” commented Alan Dodd, Chief Executive of Children Today.

A local child that has recently benefited from a grant provided by Children Today is Joseph Francis aged 4. Joseph’s mum Christine applied to Children Today for a grant to fund a specialised tricycle. The tricycle has enabled Joseph to take more exercise and helped to strengthen his leg muscles, promoting his motor development, balance and coordination and allows him to play alongside his younger brother and friends.

Children Today were delighted to be able to help Joseph, but there are many more children like him who require our help, and Grosvenor Garden Centre’s fundraising assistance over the coming year will be vital in helping provide many more specialised pieces of equipment for disabled children.
